Piia Aarma and her company Pineapple Tweed have been our PR consultants for over 9 years. Hawai‘i Center for Food Safety (HCFS) is a nonprofit public advocacy organization that offers capacity-building trainings and opportunities to community organizers and small nonprofit organizations working to advance Hawai‘i’s grassroots food movement. Public speaking and media interviews are essential tools for advocates working to raise public awareness and grow support for any issue. We invited Pineapple Tweed to train 30 organizers in interview skills and best practices to empower them to be more effective spokespeople. Pineapple Tweed’s insightful and professional training de-mystified the interview process and equipped participants with practical tips for success. Drawing from real examples, Piia covered the “dos and don’ts” for interviews, and engaged participants in fun roleplaying exercises to hone their skills. By the end of the training, participants were highly satisfied and felt motivated to carry their new skills into their media and community outreach work. Several participants who felt intimidated about media interviews prior to the training shared that they now have increased confidence and a more positive outlook on public speaking. After this training, the grassroots food movement is much better poised to communicate our messages clearly, concisely and authentically. Thank you for this transformative training Pineapple Tweed.

Piia and Pineapple Tweed are awesome! We met Piia just before launching my first startup, GreenCar Hawaii, and she was a savior.
