Maureen Nelson

Maureen Nelson has more than 30 years in public relations, advertising, media buying, marketing and journalism. Her well-rounded experience includes spearheading major public relations campaigns and product introductions for Hawaiian Airlines, Bank of Hawaii, AT&T Hawaii, Mazda Motor of America, and Ross Dress For Less.
Nelson’s career began in Los Angeles, where she spent time as an automotive journalist and writer for magazines before moving into public relations. She was a Vice President for Hill & Knowlton Public Relations both in Los Angeles and Honolulu. Nelson was instrumental in developing product launches for Mazda Motor of America and Mitsubishi Motors. While at Hill & Knowlton Honolulu, Nelson helped Hawaiian Airlines introduce its first flight to the West Coast to the media and the public. She especially enjoys event marketing and developing public relations and advertising strategies for new product launches.
Most recently, she has spent time as an advertising sales representative, as well as a media buyer for various campaigns in Hawaii. Nelson is a Certified Journalism Educator and has worked with high school students to help them expand their knowledge of journalism, photojournalism and graphic design.
